What Can I Expect With Tele-Health
In these changing times the new “normal” seems to be online. For some, this is a welcomed transition and for others the dependence on technology has caused some unease. At Connections Counseling we work with our clients to increase well being while managing safety.
If you or therapist is considering moving to Telehealth, you might be wondering...
What can I expect?
Telehealth also known as Tele-Mental health is counseling provided via phone call, video chat, zoom or another communication channel.
But what will it look like in session?
If you or your counselor has decided to move to a Tele-health format, we want you to know we are here for you through the transition. Tele-health sessions take place at a scheduled time and instructions are provided before the session begins. Via email you will receive a link to the platform the therapist is using. If it is your first time using the platform, IE (Zoom, Doxy etc) you may need to sign up. Signing up is usually as simple as an email and creating a password. Once in session you may be placed in a “Waiting Room” until your therapist brings you into the video chat.
It will run similarly as therapy in person. At connections our therapists and practitioners will work through any technological difficulties as well as explore the shift in dynamic from in person to online.
We believe by working together and identifying the emotions around the change we can minimize discomfort.
Telehealth can provide many positives for clients, including safety, convenience, fewer missed appointments and the ability to have a session in the comfort of your own home. If you are considering or would like to explore Tele-health options our therapists at Connections would be more than happy to answer any further questions.
