HOLISTIC HEALING AT CONNECTIONS

At Connections Counseling, we talk a lot about treating the whole person, and the importance of having a healthy mind, body and spirit. When our counselors meet their client for the first time they are interested in more than just the problems, or symptoms, that brought the client in. They are also curious about the strengths that the client has and how the client has used those strengths to get this far in life. Our counselors are looking to see how their new client moves through life; this includes

·      How their body experiences life (eating, sleeping, pain, etc).

·      How their mind works (how do they deal with big emotions).

·      How their spirit grows (the passion that keep them going, their past and current relationships, and what their family was like growing up). All these parts make up each client as a unique individual.

Connections Counseling offers other wellness therapies in our office in addition to or as an alternative to counseling, that may help our clients improve their overall health and happiness. These therapies include:

·      Massage Therapy. People think of massage therapy to reduce pain, which it does, but it can help with so much more. For instance, often clients can feel numbed out from their body, and massage can help them reconnect to it. Massage can also help to relax the body and create a sense of calm for our clients.

·      Acupuncture – This treatment can help our clients to unblock energies within their body restoring the body’s natural energy flow. This can help the body heal from both physical and emotional wounds that they may have been carrying around for a long time. It encourages healthier metabolic functions and even releases endorphins (the body’s natural pain killers).

·      Yoga – Yoga is proven to release tension in the body and mind and helps to strengthen the body. Many of our clients are overwhelmed with all the daily events of their life, and yoga can provide space for them to listen to their body and move it into a state of deeper relaxation.

We believe that each of our clients has a unique story that brings them into our offices, and it is our job to listen to them attentively so we understand their specific needs while they are on their journey of self-discovery and healing.
